Woman Saves Stray Dog And Realizes He Looks Just Like Her Late Pup
While mourning the loss of her beloved pup Lela, a woman encounters a stray dog at work that will change both their lives forever.
Meeting A Stray Pup While Working
In 2021, a food delivery driver endured the heart-wrenching loss of her 14-year-old Shih-Poo, Lela. Adjusting to life without her cherished pet was incredibly difficult, but an unexpected event changed everything.
While on her delivery route one day, she noticed a small, disheveled dog running across the road.
Concerned for the pup’s safety, especially after losing her own dog recently, she stopped her car and searched for the little dog.
“I see this scraggly dog darting across the road from behind the truck and in front of me,” she told The Dodo. “He was so little — and given my freshly wounded heart from the loss of my own fur baby, — I did not want to risk leaving him to be hit by someone.”
The puppy eagerly approached her, almost leaping into her arms, as if he had been waiting for her.
She checked for a collar or microchip but found none. Realizing the pup needed help, she took him to the vet for a thorough checkup.
She Realized He Looks Just Like Her Late Dog
The vet confirmed that the three-year-old dog, now named Stitch, was healthy despite his matted fur.
After a week with no word from an owner, she decided to give him a trim.
As she groomed him, she was struck by how much Stitch resembled Lela. Overcome with emotion, she had to pause and hold him, tears in her eyes.
Although Stitch bore a striking resemblance to Lela, he had a distinct personality. He was initially timid and took some time to feel comfortable in his new home. With gentle patience and affection, she helped him settle in, and soon, he became a joyful and playful companion.
Despite her ongoing sadness over losing Lela, she feels fortunate to have found Stitch.
“I sit back and wonder if somehow, somewhere in this universe, it was Lela that made us cross paths at just the right time,” she reflected.
The heartwarming connection between the woman and Stitch demonstrates how love and care can bring healing and happiness to both people and pets.
