Pittie That Had To Be Euthanized For Barking At Another Dog Gets A New Start

With a bullet lodged in her lung and a rough start in life, this sweet Pittie named Moose had one goal: to be loved by everyone.

Unfortunately, no one gave her a chance to prove herself, and she was scheduled for euthanasia just before Micky came across her story.

A Last-Minute Rescue

Moose’s fate changed when Micky discovered her just in time.

The dog was set to be put down merely because she barked at another dog. Micky didn’t hesitate for a second and immediately applied to adopt her.

Moose was transported from Houston, Texas to Virginia, where she finally met her savior.

“It’s really sad because she was behavioral euthanasia and the only thing I saw in all of her staff notes was that she barked at another dog,” Micky shared with GeoBeats Animals.

Moose had endured so much hardship: she had been shot, had heartworms, and had undergone an abortion. Despite all this, she remained a loving dog who just needed a chance.

Moose Happened To Be The Sweetest Pup

Micky was pleasantly surprised by Moose’s behavior.

She expected a lot of challenges, but Moose turned out to be well-behaved, potty-trained, and eager to learn. It was clear Moose had previously been trained and just needed a loving home to thrive.

“I’m shocked that this dog, considering how terrible her first year of life was, wants to be everyone’s best friend,” Micky said.

Moose’s gentle and affectionate nature inspired Micky to train her as a therapy dog. Given Micky’s own mobility issues, Moose seemed like the perfect candidate.

“Despite all of this, she has been the best girl ever and is learning more each day,” Micky added.

Training For A Purpose

Moose showed a natural empathy that made her an ideal therapy dog. She would instinctively stay close to Micky when she sensed she was having a tough day.

Moose is now in the process of earning her OFA certificates, and her future as a therapy dog looks bright.

“Usually, she sleeps by my legs, but if I’m having a flare, and really, really don’t feel good, she’ll sleep up by my head,” Micky explained.

Moose has been with Micky for nearly a year and a half now, and their bond is unbreakable. This once-unwanted dog has found a loving home and a fulfilling purpose.

Moose and Micky are now inseparable, enjoying daily adventures and cherishing their time together.
