Golden Retriever And Mailman Share Heartwarming Friendship That Melts Hearts
One day, as Meghan was making lunch, she spotted a heartwarming scene through her window that brightened her day.
The new mailman assigned to her neighborhood was gently petting Moose, her Golden Retriever, who soaked up the love with a big, joyful grin.
Meghan couldn’t help but smile as she watched this adorable encounter from her kitchen. Their tender moments continued daily in Grand Rapids, Michigan, as Meghan eagerly watched them share affectionate hugs each day.
Moments Full Of Joy
Moose has always loved giving hugs, his mom says. But given his size, other delivery drivers often feel uneasy when he races over to greet them.
With this mailman, though, it was different.

Each day, Moose would hear the mail truck approaching and rush outside, tail wagging in anticipation.
He’d patiently wait until his friend stepped out of the truck, then greet him with outstretched paws and the most heartwarming embrace.
“The mailman would park his car and get on out, and give him three to four minutes of just love in his daily route. The mailman just embraces Moose’s hugs every single day. And then he just talks to him. I’m not really sure what he says to him. They have their own little relationship going.“
A Friend When He Needed It Most
Meghan later learned that the mailman was grieving the recent loss of his beloved dog, making his bond with Moose all the more touching.
She hoped Moose’s affection provided him some comfort during his difficult time.

It seemed Moose sensed his friend’s need for love and support.
“Dogs definitely can sense when people go through hard things in life. And I would hope that part of all of Moose’s excitement and love that he gives him daily is partially because he knows, you know, he needs that dog love every day,” Meghan said to The Dodo.

The two friends cherished their bond in every season. In winter, the mailman tossed snowballs that Moose joyfully leapt to catch. During summer, they’d sit on the stairs and “talk.”
A Bond That Will Never Be Forgotten
Their special routine continued until Moose’s family moved away from Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Although other neighborhood dogs soon took Moose’s place, filling the mailman’s days with affection, Moose’s memory lingered.
