Man Noticed His Dog Acting Odd In The Yard And Was Surprised By The Reason

When Gracie was just a four-month-old Labrador, she already had a big responsibility—fetching the newspaper for her dad each morning.
One Sunday, the job turned out to be tougher than usual, but Gracie wasn’t about to give up.
Gracie’s Big Sunday Mission
Normally, bringing her dad the newspaper was a task she handled with ease. But that day was Sunday, and the newspaper was much heavier than usual.

Packed with ads, comics, and inserts, it was double the size she was used to.
Still, when her dad, Peter Schulz, called out, “Gracie, the newspaper,” she didn’t hesitate.

She ran straight to the edge of the yard where the paper had been dropped off. But the moment she tried to pick it up, she realized it wasn’t going to be easy.
Too Heavy? Not For Gracie
Gracie gave it her best shot. She tried to wrap her little mouth around the bulky paper but couldn’t get a good grip.
Peter encouraged her from the porch: “Bring it here, Gracie! I know, it’s a big one today, it’s Sunday’s paper.”

She paused, stepped back into the grass, and looked at the paper as if to say, “You’re not winning this.”
After another failed attempt, Peter stepped in to help. “Here, let’s do this,” he said, grabbing the plastic wrapping.
“Here, grab it like this, here, pull it.” But Gracie wasn’t ready to accept help just yet.

Determined to do it her way, she gave it another try—and this time, she pulled it off. The newspaper was so heavy she almost fell a few times, but that didn’t stop her.
In the end, she made it all the way back, proudly carrying the paper. No one was prouder than her—except maybe her dad.
She Always Looked Up To The Big Dogs
Gracie wasn’t the first newspaper-fetcher in the family. Her mom, Maddie, and grandma, Dakota, had done the same job for years.

Now it was Gracie’s turn to carry on the tradition. She was always eager to prove herself and beat the older dogs to the paper each morning.
One of Peter’s videos shows it best: “Gracie wants to beat the bigger Labradors to the paper every morning.”
And most days, she did. Her energy, drive, and determination made her a standout even as a tiny pup.

Today, Gracie is all grown up. Picking up the paper—even the heavy Sunday edition—is no longer a challenge.
But she still remembers how hard she worked to be like the big dogs. And her family couldn’t be more proud.
