Caged Breeding Dog Was Left To Suffer, Now She’s A Happy Princess Living Her Best Life
This sweet American Bulldog mix endured a life of hardship.
After spending her entire life in a cage, she was heartlessly abandoned on a quiet rural highway in Virginia.
When she was taken in by a local shelter, Poptart had no idea how to behave like a normal dog—but everything changed when Caitrin and Aj entered her life!
A Terrible Past
Poptart’s early years were spent in a small, dark cage, neglected and used for breeding.
Dumped on the side of a rural Virginia highway, she was left to fend for herself. When she was discovered, she was underweight, unhealthy, and scarred by her cruel past.

“Poptart came to us as a stray in 2018, underweight, unhealthy and overused for breeding. The people who bred her most likely kept her in filthy conditions, performed an unprofessional home c-section and then discarded her on the side of the road,” the rescue shared on Facebook.
Her arrival at the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter was a shock to everyone. It was clear that she had endured far more than any dog should.

Despite her trauma, the shelter transferred her to a foster home where she could heal in a loving environment.
A Fresh Start With Her Forever Family
A week after moving to her foster home, Poptart’s new life began when Caitrin and Aj arrived.
They quickly fell in love with her and decided to adopt her, providing her with the life she had always deserved.

At first, Poptart didn’t know what to make of her new surroundings. She was confused, unsure, and even hunched over, unsure if she was welcomed.
But her new owners made sure to show her nothing but love, and soon, her transformation was nothing short of miraculous.
Living The Dream
Poptart quickly adapted to her new life and became the queen of the house.
She loved running in the backyard with her dog sibling, Doug, and taking cozy naps indoors. Though she rarely barks, her funny sleep barks never fail to entertain her family.

“Even after a morning at the park, I don’t rest. I am ALWAYS on duty,” her owners wrote under a video of Poptart playing.
Every meal is an event for Poptart, as she excitedly spins in circles and dances around in joy. Her enthusiasm for food never gets old, and her owners are thrilled to see her so happy.

Her owners also shared with GeoBeats Animals, “We tell her loudly and clearly that she is loved and her old life is never going back to what it was. We’ll make up for it every single day she’s on this planet, which hopefully is a really long time.“
Now, with her new family and Doug by her side, Poptart is enjoying the happiest and most loving life she could ever imagine.
