Tiny Senior Dog Rescued From Streets Finds Joy In His Final Days With Loving Family

Life on the streets is tough for any dog, but for one elderly pup, it was nearly the end.

Thanks to a loving rescuer, he finally found warmth, care, and a family who adored him in his final moments.

Mr. Little’s Heartbreaking Journey On The Streets

One day, rescuers from True & Faithful Pet Rescue came across a tiny Pomeranian mix wandering alone.

Despite his small size, he was already a senior dog, estimated to be around 12 years old, so they decided to name him Mr. Little.

Years of hardship had left Mr. Little with numerous health problems. He couldn’t walk on his back legs, had an enlarged heart, a heart murmur, and was half-blind.

To address these issues, he underwent an echocardiogram to gain clearance for surgeries, including a perineal hernia repair, dental work, neutering, and several other procedures.

Through it all, his rescuers supported him every step of the way.

With a new set of wheels for his back legs and medications for his heart and cough, Mr. Little, a true little warrior, embraced his new life wholeheartedly.

A New Family Welcomes Him With Open Arms

Mr. Little was on his way to his new home in Lake Caroline, Virginia, where he would join the @peewee_brigade family.

On July 6, 2023, True and Faithful Pet Rescue posted joyous news on Instagram: “We made it to Virginia. We are a few hours out and will post all pictures and videos of this incredible senior adoption!!”

His new parents, along with his dog siblings Joey and Kiku, were ready to welcome him with love.

Joey and Kiku, also rescued senior dogs, were grieving the recent loss of their sister, Cindy, and Rocket’s arrival brought comfort and new happiness to their lives.

Renamed Rocket by his new mom, he quickly settled in with his new family. Joey, who was nearly blind like Rocket, grew particularly close to him.

Joey and Rocket are both almost blind,” his mom shared withr GeoBeats Animals. “They seek each other out. And then when they’re touching, they stop and hang out.

Rocket quickly became a beloved member of the family, and his neighbors adored him too. Soon, he even earned a new title as the neighborhood’s favorite dog.

On the family’s Instagram page, Rocket became an “Instadog” sensation, with his video becoming the most-viewed of all.

Every Moment With Rocket Was A Blessing

Rocket’s family did everything to make him comfortable. He received therapies to improve his mobility, a special diet, and endless affection.

Sadly, on December 21, 2022, his mom shared heart-wrenching news on Instagram: “It’s with a heavy heart that I tell you Rocket passed away yesterday. Every moment of his short time with us was perfect. He was a loving, calm, and precious soul ❣️

Mr. Little, now Rocket, crossed the rainbow bridge, leaving behind a family and community filled with love for him.

His story brought tears of both joy and sadness, as he spent his final days not in solitude, but surrounded by warmth, care, and countless cherished moments.

Rest in peace, sweet Rocket—you will always be remembered.
