Dog Never Lets Go Of Dad’s Hand, Afraid Of Being Left Again
Stanley’s love language is all about physical touch. He doesn’t care for personal space and never wants to be alone.
This affectionate pup needs to be touching his dad at all times, and if his dad isn’t around, he’ll find someone else to cling to.
Stanley’s Adoption
Sam Clarence found Stanley when he was just a six-month-old puppy.
Sam, a volunteer dog walker for Christchurch Bull Breed Rescue, was asked to foster Stanley for a few weeks. Stanley and his brother were discovered living with their mother on an abandoned property, scared and hungry.
The moment Sam saw Stanley, he knew fostering wasn’t going to be temporary.
“He was terrified when we got home and it took him an hour to slowly come out of the car. Once he got out, I gave him a big bath, some food and a comfy bed in front of the fire,” Sam told The Dodo.
Adjusting to his new home took time, but Stanley immediately bonded with his new dad.
“As a pup, he would sleep with me on the bed and we could never not be touching. He would lay behind me and always have at least a paw touching my back; if I moved, he moved,” Sam shared.
Stanley Needs To Be Always Touching
Stanley’s need to be in constant contact with Sam only grew stronger.
“We have to be touching at all times. He’s very forceful about it,” Sam said.
Stanley is so attached that he insists on touching Sam even while he’s driving.
“If we are watching TV, same thing. I will get paws flying at me until I touch him. It’s just his quirk. If I’m not around he will do it to my housemate as well,” Sam explained.
Stanley loves outdoor activities, especially trips to the beach, rivers, or lakes.
But no matter where they go, his favorite place is always by his dad’s side. His dad is his safe haven, and there’s nowhere else Stanley would rather be.
