Rescuers Find A Dog Lying On Frozen Ground Just Before The Worst Happens
Keanu was heartlessly abandoned in the woods, left to fend for himself. With no food or water and freezing temperatures, he was barely surviving.
He had lost all hope and was at his lowest point when two kind people found him – and turned his life around completely!
A Desperate, Lifeless Pup
When Ne La and Adrian discovered Keanu, he was near death. His frail body lay motionless in the cold, with no strength left to move.

Keanu had been left to freeze in the woods, with no food or water. Desperate and broken, he had given up hope until two kind souls found him, rescuing him just in time.
They immediately contacted 1 Dog At A Time Rescue, and he was quickly transferred to the care of their vet, Denisa.

“It took several hours before he started to come through and respond. He could barely lift his head at the beginning,” said Jayne, co-founder of We Love Animals.
As Keanu lay in the car on his way to the clinic, he was too weak to do anything but trust in the hands that had finally come to help him.
At the clinic, Keanu was given fluids and slowly began to show signs of life. After hours of care, he opened his eyes and licked his rescuers’ hands as a simple “Thank you.”
A Heartwarming Transformation
Keanu’s gentle spirit captured everyone’s hearts from the moment they met him.

“Everybody that met him just fell in love with him. Just very gentle. Very, very gentle,” said Jayne.
For the first week, Keanu remained still, eating and drinking from his bowl while he gathered his strength. But soon, he started to show signs of progress.
Keanu then managed to stand up and take a few wobbly steps. The moment he stood up was a milestone in his recovery, and from there, he blossomed.

His recovery was nothing short of miraculous. Keanu began walking longer distances, making new furry friends, including Elsa, with whom he learned to play again.
But even with all the progress, Keanu’s favorite activity remained simple: lying under a tree and enjoying the moment.
“He is such a gentle boy, and is so relaxed with all our other dogs. He is very much his own person, and loves nothing more than lying outside under a tree and just be,” said the rescue.

Keanu’s joy and gratitude were evident in his eyes, and his playful spirit soon shined through. He was finally ready to share the love he had received during his recovery.
“He’s one of those dogs that comes around once in a lifetime. He’s a very special dog,” Jayne said.

Eventually, Keanu found a forever home and loving family, where he now enjoys a carefree life full of adventure and companionship.
After all he endured, Keanu truly deserved this new beginning.
