Stray Sibling Puppies Find Comfort In Each Other While Struggling To Survive

This is the story of sibling puppies, Lily and Atlas, who fought to survive together from their first day on the streets.

Saved by a rescue team, they were in need of care and lots of love.

Relying On Each Other

On July 6th, 2023, Lily and Atlas were found in poor condition on the streets of St. Louis, Missouri. Stray Rescue of St. Louis took them in, noting their thin bodies and flea infestations.

Having only each other for comfort, the siblings had endured the harsh realities of street life together.

After a much-needed bath, they were placed in the same kennel, clinging to each other for support. Despite their frail state, their bond was their source of strength.

Ready To Be Adopted After Much Needed Treatment

During a full checkup, the vets found both puppies were malnourished and suffering from severe flea bites. Atlas, in particular, was anemic due to blood loss.

“But when we look in his eyes, we can see for miles. There is so much depth, so much soul. His sister is very worried and knows something is wrong. Dogs, even babies, are incredibly intelligent,” the shelter staff shared on Instagram.

Atlas was taken to a clinic for a blood transfusion. The next day brought good news. Atlas had survived and was eating on his own.

“We fell in love with him immediately and we were so worried we would lose him… these are the moments that reset and re-energize us!”

Atlas returned to the shelter the following day, eager to see the staff and reunite with his beloved sister.

“Atlas is getting LOTS of kisses from Dr. Shulz, our amazing technician, Sarah, and our clinic intern, Clara! This is one special puppy. His sister was excited to see him, too. They started cuddling immediately!”

The staff embraced both siblings, and Lily showed her gratitude by kissing Atlas’ caregivers.

Soon, Atlas and Lily regained their strength and energy. The staff announced that the puppies were ready for foster care.

These resilient pups are eager to start a new life and experience the love and security of a real home. We hope they find a wonderful family willing to adopt them together, giving them a life filled with the love and affection they deserve.
