Neglected Yorkie Finds Out What A Bed Is For The First Time

Neglected Yorkie Finds Out What A Bed Is For The First Time

Nearly eight years of neglect and hardship had taken their toll on a little Yorkie named Sonic, but everything changed when a group of compassionate people decided to give him the chance he deserved.

A Rescue That Broke Hearts

Sonic had likely been neglected for most of his life, leaving him in terrible condition. This tiny, eight-year-old Yorkie was not only extremely frightened but also severely matted and underweight.

Weighing only 5 pounds, with 2 pounds of that being matted fur, Sonic was in desperate need of care when he was abandoned at the Chesterfield Square Animal Services Center in Los Angeles. It’s believed he was dumped after having a seizure.

Mindi Memel, the founder of Precious Pals Pet Rescue in Los Angeles, quickly stepped in when she heard about Sonic’s condition. When she saw the state of the poor dog, her heart broke.

Mindi shared her feelings in a Facebook post, writing, “I have a tough exterior when I rescue these medical dogs, but this little boy Sonic is tearing at my heart. I am so mad and so heartbroken over the neglect this little sweet dog has been through his whole life. I want to erase everything he’s ever known, and I’ll do my damned best to do that with getting him the best medical care and into a real loving home.”

Sonic was taken to the vet, where he received much-needed medical attention, including being shaved down to remove the matted fur that was weighing him down.

Mindi was unsure if Sonic would survive, given his frail condition, but she was determined to give him the best chance.

Discovering Comfort For The First Time

When Mindi brought Sonic home from the vet, it was clear that he was unsure of everything around him. He had likely never lived indoors, never experienced a soft blanket, and certainly never slept on a bed.

In his confusion, Sonic found comfort in sleeping on a blanket rather than the cozy beds Mindi had provided.

Mindi even had to wrap Sonic in a blanket and feed him baby food from a pouch because he wasn’t eating on his own.

Despite the challenges, Sonic gradually began to improve. After six days of silence, Sonic finally found his voice and started to bark, a small but significant sign that he was beginning to feel more at home.

A Happy Ending for Sonic

With weeks of loving care, medication, and patience, Sonic blossomed into a confident and strong little dog, ready to find his forever home.

A woman who had recently lost her Yorkie reached out to Mindi, expressing interest in adopting Sonic. She already had one Yorkie and was looking to adopt two more, including Sonic and another senior dog named Jazzie.

The connection was instant. When they met at the dog park, both Sonic and his new mom fell in love immediately.

“They were just a perfect little match, and she is the best mom to Sonic,” Mindi told The Dodo.

Sonic is now a happy, cherished member of his new family, living the life he always deserved.
