Proud Rottweiler Mom Has Unexpected Record-Breaking Litter

Eleanor and Iain Usher were thrilled when their 2-year old Rottweiler Jessie got pregnant.

They were told to expect around 3 to 5 puppies, but to their surprise Jessie defied all odds and gave birth to Britain’s 2nd largest breed ever.

An Unexpected Midnight Delivery

On the early morning of October 15, 2017, Jessie began to give birth at her forever home.

The Ushers, who were first-time breeders, were unaware of the exact number of puppies to expect due to the high cost of ultrasounds.

Eleanor recounted the moment to SWNS: “We were given a due date of October 17, but on October 15 at around 1.50 am, I heard this scratching noise from the bottom of the stairs.”

Rushing downstairs, Eleanor discovered Jessie already in the midst of labor.

The first two puppies had arrived, and more were on their way. As the couple watched in awe, the puppies continued to come, one after another.

The Miraculous Arrival

“We hadn’t had an ultrasound, because it’s so expensive, and I’d been told to expect something between three and five,” Eleanor explained. “After the sixth puppy, I was saying: ‘That’s a good girl, you can stop now, you don’t have to do anymore’.”

But Jessie had other plans.

She continued to give birth through the night, much to the shock and disbelief of her owners.

“We just thought: ‘Oh my god, when is she going to stop?’,” Eleanor said.

As the count reached eleven, the Ushers began to check records, noting that the UK record for the largest Rottweiler litter was 18 puppies.

They marveled at the possibility that Jessie might come close to breaking it.

By 8:00 a.m., Jessie had finally finished.

She had given birth to fifteen healthy puppies without any need for assistance.
