Rescuers Heartbroken By Abandoned Dog Left In Kennel With ‘Free’ Sign On Busy Highway
Nova, a sweet and innocent dog, had dreams of a normal, loving life.
Sadly, her journey began in heartbreak when she was abandoned in a kennel with a “free” sign, left on the side of a busy highway.

Once hopeful for a loving life, she faced a shocking betrayal when her owner abandoned her in such dangerous circumstances.
Fortunately, a passerby noticed Nova and refused to ignore her plight. The Good Samaritan posted an urgent plea online, hoping that someone from a rescue group would step in to save her.
Madison Nygard, a volunteer with Pawfect Match Rescue in North Carolina, answered the call.
“I was on my way. I had seen it a couple of minutes after it had posted. I got to Nova before the post hit the hour mark,” Nygard told People.

Upon arriving, Nygard was horrified by the scene—the kennel with its cruel message and Nova inside.
She couldn’t fathom how anyone could abandon an animal so callously.
A New Start For Nova
After consulting with animal control officers at the site, Nygard made the decision to help Nova personally.
She took her straight to a veterinarian in North Carolina to ensure she was healthy and address any possible medical concerns.

“I knew that at least if I brought her into the house, she would have food in her belly, and I could physically monitor,” Nygard explained.
Once safe in her foster home, Nova began to relax and show her gratitude in every way she could. She quickly bonded with everyone in Nygard’s household and seemed to thrive in the loving environment.
Nova’s recovery delighted her foster mom, who watched as the once-abandoned dog embraced her new life.
While Nova enjoyed her time with the family, Nygard knew the next step was finding her a permanent, loving home.
A Brighter Future Awaits
The search for Nova’s forever family began as Nygard identified potential adopters.

Though the adoption process takes time, Nova is now in a safe, warm home filled with toys, treats, and care while she waits for her perfect match.
