Terrified Senior Dog Hid From All Until A Gentle Touch Changed Everything
MarMar, a senior dog, spent months navigating the streets of California, struggling to survive while avoiding contact with people.
Injured and deeply traumatized, he had lost all trust in humans and didn’t know how to seek the help he so desperately needed.
But everything changed when Eldad stepped in to save him.
Hiding In Fear
Eldad Hagar, founder of Hope For Paws in Los Angeles, received a call from a compassionate man named Phillip, who was concerned about MarMar’s condition.

Wasting no time, Eldad went to find the little dog, who had taken refuge near a gas station, searching for a safe place to stay.
When Eldad finally spotted MarMar, the tiny dog was in terrible shape. His paws were bleeding, and he was too weak to run away.
MarMar sat trembling, paralyzed with fear, uncertain of what would happen next. His constant shaking and lowered head revealed the deep trauma he had endured as if he was bracing for more pain.

What MarMar didn’t realize was that Eldad wasn’t there to harm him, but to offer the care and kindness he so badly needed.
A New Friend And A New Start
After gently coaxing MarMar, Eldad took him to the Hope For Paws facility, where he gave the frightened dog a warm bath and tried to make him feel safe.
Though MarMar was still nervous, he slowly started to relax, possibly experiencing human kindness for the first time in a long while.

The Hope For Paws team quickly took MarMar to the vet to assess his injuries.
Fortunately, his bleeding paws were the result of minor burns, and despite the hardships he’d faced on the streets, MarMar was in surprisingly good health for an older dog.
With this positive news, Eldad knew it was time to find MarMar a foster home where he could continue to heal and learn to trust again.
Ready To Be Adopted
For the first few days, MarMar was welcomed into the home of Katie McKittrick, a dedicated Hope For Paws volunteer.

She introduced him to her own dogs and a cat, hoping that their companionship would help MarMar feel more secure.
Her efforts paid off—MarMar quickly formed bonds with his new furry friends and began to show his true, gentle nature. Katie was thrilled to see him rediscover the joys of being a dog.
Shortly after, the SAFE Rescue Team in Huntington Beach, California, offered to foster MarMar until a permanent home could be found. MarMar is now thriving in his foster home, where he receives all the love and care he deserves.
