Loving Pup Left Devastated After Being Surrendered To Shelter For The Third Time

Zion was the kind of dog who lit up every room.

Friendly, affectionate, and full of energy, he loved being around people and other pups.

But despite his wonderful personality, Zion’s early years were full of confusion and sadness.

Returned Again And Again

After spending a year in what was supposed to be his forever home, Zion was returned to the shelter in Florida.

It was the third time he’d been surrendered, and each return left a deeper mark on his heart.

The team at Broward County Humane Society couldn’t understand it. Zion wasn’t aggressive, difficult, or disobedient.

In fact, he was playful, loyal, and smart. But he did have one trait that needed patience—he struggled with being left alone.

Like many dogs who love deeply, Zion found it hard to cope when his humans weren’t around. He would cry, bark, and sometimes chew things out of anxiety.

Unfortunately, instead of working through it, his previous families gave up on him.

Seeing how heartbroken Zion was after coming back yet again, the shelter staff knew they had to do something.

They shared a heartfelt video online, hoping someone would finally see the sweet dog for who he truly was—a loyal companion desperate for love and stability.

@humanebroward Oh Zion 💔 He was just being a dog! 🥺 This gorgeous 1-year-old pup is Zion, and sadly, he has been given up 3 times now all because his humans did not understand him 😔 You see, Zion is a Caanan Dog, which is a marvelous working breed that likes to keep busy, be with their people and have lots of time to play, especially with other dogs. They are extremely intelligent, and enjoy learning new things and pleasing their owner (whom they get very attached to). Sadly, Zion was never given a chance to prove any of this 💔 His first family gave him up because he became destructive and cried when he was alone 🥺 Another family left him outside 24 hours a day and then complained that he barked too much 😔 Zion has been let down, and now, through no fault of his own, he is back at our shelter hoping for yet another chance to be the incredible dog that he is! 🙏 Our staff says he is very sweet and gives lots of kisses! He has a great disposition, a fun energy, loves riding in the car and playing with other dogs. He would make an amazing companion for a family that has time to devote to him! Are you that special family? ❤️ If you cannot adopt, please share Zion’s post! 🙏 To meet Zion, please fill out an application at www.humanebroward.com (link is in bio) and then stop by. The shelter is located at 2070 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL., the adoption department opens daily at 11 a.m. and can be reached at 954-989-3977 x.6 ❤️ #rescuedog #shelterdog #adoptme #adoptdontshop #dogvideos #dogsoftiktok #florida #fortlauderdale #miami #retrieveroftheday #dogtok #dogsoftheday #dogrescue #dog #fyp #foryou #canaandog #retriever #rescueme #workingdog #foryoupage #doggie #newbeginnings #doglover #shepherd #doglife #workingdogs #puppy ♬ original sound – Humane Society Broward County

He was just being a dog,” they explained in the post, adding that Zion had been let down by people who didn’t take the time to understand him. “Now, through no fault of his own, he is back at our shelter hoping for yet another chance to be the incredible dog that he is.”

A New Chapter Begins

That video touched thousands of hearts. People across the country watched, shared, and cheered for Zion.

And finally, a few months after the video went live, Zion got what he had waited so long for, a new family.

Our foster baby Zion has finally been adopted!!! 🎉🥳 We’re so happy to see our boy get the loving home he deserves.” the team at Hounds Town Fort Lauderdale North shared.

After so much waiting and heartbreak, he got the second chance he deserved.

Though we don’t know much about his new life, one thing is certain: Zion now has a family who saw his worth and chose to give him love and stability.
