Overcoming Early Challenges
Cheri and Ward Wells, special-needs dog rescuers from LoveyLoaves in Orlando, Florida, received a call five years ago that would change their lives.

It was the day before Christmas Eve, and a family told them about a Chihuahua litter born with birth defects.
Among the puppies was Noelle, born without front legs and rejected by her mother. Unable to care for her, the family surrendered Noelle to a shelter.

“It’s much too early for her to be separated from mom, but the alternatives were not good. So we named our new Christmas angel Noelle and have been bottle feeding her around the clock and showering her with love,” LoveyLoaves wrote on Facebook.
From the beginning, Noelle required constant attention, including bottle feeding every few hours.

Soon after, she developed trembling, vomiting, and shortness of breath. While nebulizer treatments helped avoid pneumonia, tests revealed she had a dairy intolerance.
Relieved it wasn’t life-threatening, Cheri and Ward adjusted her care and watched Noelle embrace her puppyhood with renewed energy.
Learning To Move And Thriving
At first, Noelle could only inch and push herself around. Her rescuers worried she might never move freely.

Determined to help, Cheri and Ward introduced Noelle to custom-designed wheels. Although it took her some time to adjust, she quickly mastered them and embraced her newfound mobility.
Soon, Noelle was running outdoors and playing with other dogs. It was a heartwarming sight to see her finally experience freedom.
Her most triumphant moments included learning to eat from an elevated food dish and hopping across the bed in search of cuddles.

Cheri and Ward couldn’t imagine their lives without Noelle. This special Chihuahua became their foster fail, settling permanently in her loving forever home.
