Neglected For So Long, This One-Year-Old Pup Looked Decades Older Than His Age
Grommett, a one-year-old pup, was left in such terrible conditions that he looked like a senior dog when rescuers finally found him.
Grommett Was In Severe Pain
When Animal Control officers in Florida discovered Grommett, they were horrified by his appearance.

Transferred to the local Animal Control facility, it was clear he needed urgent help.
Soon after, he was moved to the Humane Society of Broward County, where staff were overwhelmed by his tragic condition. He arrived in such a terrible state, with countless injuries and health problems that needed urgent care.
In a video posted by the shelter, Grommett’s physical and emotional pain was apparent. It’s hard to fathom how anyone could neglect a dog so thoroughly.
Starting A New Journey
Though little is known about Grommett’s past, strong evidence suggested he had been confined to a cage for most of his short life.

Susan Leonti from the shelter explained: “Grommett arrived severely emaciated with signs of neglect throughout his body, including overgrown nails and scalding on his legs and feet from standing in his own urine.“
Despite the severity of his injuries, veterinarians stepped in to address his immediate health concerns.

The Humane Society was determined to give Grommett a fresh start.
A Path Toward Healing
After receiving vital medical care, Grommett was placed in a medical foster home in Florida. There, he began his healing process and showed incredible resilience.

Though it will take time, Grommett is making remarkable progress. Eventually, he will be ready to find a loving family who will cherish and care for him as he deserves.
