American Bulldog Oscar, Abandoned As A Pup, Finally Has A Reason To Smile
Oscar, a two-year-old American Bulldog mix, was abandoned as a puppy.
The dog faced a harsh start to life, bearing the scars of neglect and the longing for a family to call his own.
And just as everything seemed over for the big dog, the kindness of strangers finally gave him a reason to smile.
A Dog In Very Bad Shape
When Oscar was surrendered to Miami-Dade Animal Service (MDAS), he was in dire straits.
Suffering from a skin infection, heartworms, broken teeth, and wounds from an inadequate collar, his condition reflected the neglect he had endured.
Despite his challenges, the MDAS team provided the care and love Oscar needed, healing his wounds and preparing him for a new chapter in life.
However, finding a family proved difficult, with no responses to the shelter’s posts about Oscar.
The situation was critical, and he was on the kill list:
“🚨🤬‼️BEING EUTHANIZED BY THE END OF TODAY 3/2‼️🚨 HE HAS SHUT DOWN, NOTHING ELSE CAN BE DONE AFTER OVER A YEAR AT THE SHELTER HE WAITS LIKE THIS FOR HIS TURN NEXT IN LINE TO BE EUTHANIZED! I HATE TO SAY THIS ONLY A MIRACLE WIL SAVE HIM.”
The Miracle Happened
Just as the shelter reached its capacity and Oscar’s future hung in the balance, Humans And Animals United (HAAU), a Florida-based organization, intervened.
Determined to prevent Oscar from being homeless again, Rosa Fond, the founder of HAAU, embarked on a mission to find him a foster home.
Their efforts connected Oscar with a dog trainer willing to foster him, marking the beginning of a transformative journey for the once forlorn pup.
A New Lease on Life
For the first time, Oscar experienced what it meant to be part of a family that understood and cared for him.
The impact was immediate—Oscar’s perpetual frown turned into smiles of joy, embodying the happiness that comes with love and security.
Fond observed a remarkable change in Oscar; he was no longer lethargic but full of life, a clear sign of how desperately he needed a nurturing environment.
Learning and Growing
In his foster home, Oscar began to thrive.
Under the guidance of his foster parent, he embarked on a journey of education and socialization, learning the basics of obedience and adapting to family life.
Oscar’s progress was a testament to his intelligence and eagerness to please, qualities that make him a perfect companion.
The Search for The New Furever Home
Despite his transformation, Oscar’s story is not yet complete.
He continues to search for a permanent home, a place where he can continue to heal from his past traumas and enjoy the love and safety he so deserves.
Fond remains hopeful that Oscar will find a family that recognizes his incredible journey and the loving, loyal dog he has become.
“He deserves a good home. Somebody who’s gonna give him a lot of love and help him heal through the trauma he’s been through. Someone who’s gonna give him a lot of love and time to understand that he’s safe.” said Rosa Fond.
