Stray Mama Dog With 14 Puppies Who Used To Shake With Fear Finally Opens Up To Her Rescuers
When a shelter reached out to Hope For Life Rescue for help with a scared mama dog named Lovebug and her 14 newborn pups, they didn’t hesitate to say yes.
Lovebug had been found on the streets and was wary of people, unsure if she could trust them.
The team welcomed Lovebug and her little ones with open hearts, ready to show them kindness and earn their trust.
Lovebug And Her Puppies Find Safety With Rescuers
Initially, Lovebug wouldn’t let anyone near her or her puppies. She trembled in fear whenever a rescuer approached.
“I remember walking in the room and seeing her cowered in the corner over top of her two-day-old babies. She was so scared. Shaking and not letting us get too close to her or the babies,” one of her rescuers shared with The Dodo.
Determined to help, the team at Hope Center set up a private space for Lovebug and her babies, ensuring they had all the care and attention they needed.
Slowly Gaining Trust, Lovebug Begins To Open Up
After a few days, Lovebug allowed the staff to touch her puppies and even let them weigh her babies to ensure proper care.
Slowly, she started trusting her rescuers, though she still wasn’t ready for affection.
Despite her initial hesitation, the rescuers persisted, spending time with her, talking to her, and lying on the floor beside her.
They witnessed her incredible devotion to her puppies.
As her babies grew stronger, Lovebug began to feel safe and eventually allowed the staff to stroke her gently.
A Fresh Start Leads To Ruby’s Happy Ending
Once her puppies were adopted, Lovebug started focusing on herself. She gained weight, became more social, and her fears slowly melted away.
Her journey led her to a foster home where she was showered with love and kindness.
There, Lovebug began smiling again and found her confidence through the support of her new foster dog brothers.
Eventually, she met her forever family, who renamed her Ruby.
Now, Ruby enjoys life in Virginia, camping with her family and playing with her furry siblings, Beamer and Charlotte.
