Starving Puppy Found Lying On The Curb Waiting For Help

A kind soul spotted a dog in terrible condition on the street and called a shelter for help.

Stray Rescue of St. Louis stepped in just in time, giving him a new lease on life.

The Dog Was Found Starving In The Street

In late August 2022, Donna Lochmann from Stray Rescue of St. Louis got a call about a dog sleeping on the street in the scorching summer heat.

The caller sent photos of the dog, showing him lying down with his hip bones visible, indicating he was severely malnourished.

Donna knew she had to help.

“The picture this person sent us showed the dog lying down. It was hard to tell, but it kind of looked like you could see his hip bones. So I knew it was definitely worth checking out.” Donna told The Dodo.

Searching And Rescuing Curby

She quickly arrived at the scene but couldn’t find the dog at first. After searching for a bit, she found him lying in water from a gutter, trying to cool down.

As she approached, the dog barely lifted his head before flopping it back down, clearly having given up. Heartbroken by the sight, Donna knew she couldn’t leave him there.

The dog, later named Curby, was welcoming and not afraid. She helped him into her car, where he immediately lay down on a blanket, grateful for the air conditioning and comfort.

A New Life Awaits

Curby enjoyed his ride to the shelter.

After a thorough examination, he was placed in a foster home with a loving family who had seen his story.

In his new home, Curby thrived, gaining weight and enjoying playtime with his new dog sibling.

It’s unclear if Curby has been adopted yet, but his sweet and playful nature suggests he will soon find his forever home.
