Pair Of Matted Stray Pups Sneaks Into A School Searching For A Place To Call Home

Finding shelter is one of the biggest struggles for abandoned dogs.
But for two lost pups, an unusual place became their only refuge.
A Desperate Search For Safety
Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy 29, was heartbroken when she received a call from a friend working at a California school.
Two tiny, severely matted dogs had wandered onto the school grounds, seeking shelter with nowhere else to go.

“She and a few other teachers found them huddled together… They were so scared,” Hall shared with The Dodo.
The heartbreaking photos showed two white pups gazing up at the school staff, pleading for help. Without hesitation, Hall agreed to rescue them.
Unfortunately, on her way, her car broke down, delaying her arrival for hours.
In the meantime, the compassionate school staff took matters into their own hands.
A janitor carefully carried the terrified pups to an empty bathroom, where teachers took turns watching over them and offering food.
“[A teacher] had given them her lunch, but there was broccoli everywhere. Apparently, they don’t like broccoli,” Hall shared in a Facebook post.

When Hall finally arrived, she was stunned by their condition.
“I honestly could not believe it when I saw them. They had dreadlocks and [were] so dirty … they looked like two little [ragamuffins],” she said.
A Fresh Start Begins
At first, the scared pups, later named Maggie and Mack, hesitated to trust their rescuers.
But with patience and kindness, Hall finally coaxed them into a carrier and transported them to Camino Pet Hospital.

“[The] sweet babies were so tired, they fell asleep in my trap. They could finally sleep … they knew they were safe,” Hall wrote.
Once at the hospital, the duo received full medical evaluations and much-needed grooming.

Carefully, the staff shaved away the thick mats, revealing a completely different look underneath. Maggie and Mack instantly seemed lighter, happier—relieved to be free from their tangled fur.
After a long day of rescue and care, both the pups and their rescuers could finally relax.
The best news of all? The vet confirmed that despite their ordeal, both dogs were in perfect health.
To celebrate, Maggie and Mack were showered with cuddles, pets, and plenty of treats for their bravery.
A Bright Future Ahead
For now, the two pups are settling into their foster home, learning what it means to be loved.

Though adjusting to indoor life is a new experience, they’re thriving in their safe and caring environment. Each day, they grow more confident, leaving their painful past behind.
Hall and her team are working tirelessly to find Maggie and Mack the perfect forever home. Until then, they’ll be surrounded by warmth, affection, and all the love they deserve.
“Layer by layer, we will put the past behind them. But they [are] finally safe,” Hall said.
