Meet Salvador Dolly, The Mustache Puppy That Looks Like Famous Painter

Meet Salvador Dolly The Mustache Puppy That Looks Like Famous Painter

The moment a stray dog arrived at Dallas Animal Services with her 11 newborn puppies, the shelter immediately noticed something special.

This is the story of Salvador Dolly, a shepherd mix puppy with a handlebar mustache similar to the one of the famous painter Salvador Dalí, who went from being a stray to an international sensation.

A Striking First Impression

Salvador Dolly, along with her mother and ten siblings, was taken in by Hearts & Bones Animal Rescue in July 2019.

From the moment she was spotted, Dolly’s distinctive mustache made her stand out.

The marking was so unique that it immediately sparked widespread adoration and curiosity, leading the shelter to aptly name her after the iconic surrealist artist.

Foster Care and Viral Fame

Understanding the risks associated with shelter life for young puppies, Hearts & Bones quickly sought a foster home for Dolly and her family.

Jessica, a seasoned rescuer from Texas, stepped up to provide the care they needed.

During their time in foster care, Dolly’s fame grew as her image circulated on social media, drawing overwhelming adoration and inquiries from potential adopters.

“The first thing people ask is generally, ‘Is that real?’, and [there’s] a lot of ‘Omg, stop it!’ and squealing over her.” said Allisson Seelig from Hearts & Bones Rescue

The Journey to Adoption

As the puppies were weaned, preparations were made to transfer them to New York, where they would find their forever homes.

Salvador Dolly’s fame ensured that she was among the most sought-after of her siblings.

The shelter received over 100 applications for her adoption, which speaks volume about how much the public loved this special pup. The shelter even had to stop accepting further requests for her adoption!

“We have been completely wowed by the amazing response Dolly has received, and hope she encourages more people to adopt, foster, and support rescue groups.” said the foster.

Finding the Perfect Match

After careful consideration, Dolly was adopted by Ryan Landry and Scott Martino, a couple residing in Provincetown, Massachusetts.

Their commitment was evident, not just from their enthusiasm but also from their Salvador Dalí-themed attire during their home visit.

The shelter posted on Facebook: “After reviewing over 100 adoption applications, we knew Scott and Ryan were meant to be Dolly’s forever family. They wore Salvador Dalí t-shirts during their home visit, and they took us on a tour of their beach town where neighbors and friends stopped them on the street to tell us how incredible they are.”

The couple’s deep affection for Dolly and their active community life made them the ideal match for the playful and loving puppy.

Life in Provincetown

Now fully settled into her new home, Salvador Dolly enjoys frequent walks on the beach and has become a local celebrity.

Recognized often by passersby, her distinctive mustache continues to charm everyone she meets.

Her owners report that she exhibits bursts of energy and loves to spend time snuggling in their laps, showcasing her affectionate nature.
