Pup With 6 Legs Gets Adopted By Bullied Teen And They Become Best Friends

Born with six legs and facing an uncertain future, this remarkable Labrador puppy captured the heart of a teenage boy named Luke.

Their bond became unbreakable, and together they proved that a little love and determination can go a long way.

Here’s the inspiring journey of how Roo, the six-legged Labrador, defied the odds and left a legacy that will never be forgotten.

Roo Joins The Family

Roo was born with six legs, and at just eight weeks old, her breeder posted an advertisement online.

Luke Salmon, a 15-year-old teenager, saw it and immediately felt a connection. After speaking with his mother, Lauren, they decided to buy Roo to save her from an uncertain future.

“We feared she would be euthanized if her breeder couldn’t sell her,” Lauren said.

When they arrived at the farm to collect her, Roo immediately started hopping on her back legs in excitement, a playful display of her unique spirit despite her disability.

“She’s full of puppy energy. We’d describe her as placid but playful,” Lauren explained. “There are not many dogs like Roo out there. I think the breeders kill them off because they’re not worth anything, but to us, she’s priceless.”

2 Unique Outcasts

Roo and Luke quickly became best friends, forming a special bond.

“It was love at first sight for Luke and Roo from then on,” Lauren shared.

Luke, who suffers from psoriasis, a condition that left him feeling like an outsider due to red spots covering his body, found solace in Roo’s companionship.

“Luke feels like the odd one out because of his condition, and now he has got a best friend to match,” Lauren added.

Roo’s unique way of moving, hopping on her back legs while using her front paws as elbows, earned her the name “Roo,” as she resembled a kangaroo.

Luke often took her for walks in her wheelchair, and Roo loved sunbathing with her family.

Despite her disability, Roo was never in pain and enjoyed playing with her furry sibling, Taz, a Jack Russell-Chihuahua mix.

The Salmon family wanted to improve her mobility, so they consulted specialist veterinarian Dr. Noel Fitzpatrick.

Roo’s Legacy of Love

Roo underwent her first surgery on January 22, 2020, to remove one of her extra legs.

Her family always sought ways to improve her quality of life, even starting a fundraiser to help buy a wheelchair for her.

Roo’s inspiring story touched many hearts, and people eagerly followed her progress on her Instagram account.

Sadly, on May 26, 2022, Roo moved on to puppy heaven, leaving her family and fans heartbroken.

Despite living a short life, Roo was surrounded by unconditional love. Her spirit continues to inspire all those who followed her journey.

Her family shared this touching message: “Your now on your special cloud out of pain and with my angels who will look after you just as well as i did. I love you roo. Its going to be strange not to see you everyday but i know your watching over us. Sleep tight my fur baby angel.”
