Man Out Walking His Dog Comes Across Someone With A Strange Looking Pet

Lukasz Puczko had a dream—and not the kind you forget after waking up.

He wanted to use his love for puppetry to bring smiles, start conversations, and even help people overcome their fears.

And he did it in one of the most creative ways you can imagine.

Building Burek

Lukasz had spent over 15 years honing his skills as a puppeteer.

But one day, he challenged himself with something special: building a dog puppet that looked and moved just like a real one.

He named the puppet Burek, and creating him was no small task. Lukasz worked with wood, strings, and artificial fur to make the puppet lifelike.

But he didn’t stop there.

He went out and observed how real dogs moved—how they walked, sniffed around, tilted their heads—everything.

During the build, I was observing dogs for their behavior to find out what movement would be needed in a puppet,” Lukasz shared with The Dodo. “Burek, for me, represents my determination.”

He eventually left his school to perform full-time on the street, taking Burek along wherever he went.

A Show Loved By All—Even Dogs

People were instantly drawn to the performance. The way Burek moved was so realistic that crowds would gather, fascinated. And it wasn’t just people—dogs were just as curious.

Some dogs would bark, some would try to sniff Burek, and others would cautiously wag their tails before approaching.

To them, Burek looked just like another four-legged friend. One day in the park, a man walking his dog noticed Lukasz’s performance.

His dog locked eyes with Burek, tail wagging.

Curious but unsure, the pup slowly stepped forward. The scene was so funny and heartwarming that people around couldn’t stop smiling.

Helping People Heal

But Lukasz’s mission went deeper than entertainment. He started to meet children and adults who were afraid of dogs—often because of past trauma.

They knew Burek was a puppet, but the movement was too real,” Lukasz explained. “But because I’m deciding what the puppet will do, I could slowly get them used to dogs.

By watching Burek move in gentle, predictable ways, people who once feared dogs started to feel safe around them.

And that first step, Lukasz believed, was the beginning of healing.

The Dog Behind the Puppet

Lukasz doesn’t just love dogs—he shares his life with one. For the past four years, he’s had a rescue pup named Miya.

She loves to play with Burek and treats him like a toy,” he said with a smile.

Through creativity, empathy, and a lot of hard work, Lukasz found a way to bring joy to strangers, laughter to parks, and comfort to people who needed it most.

All thanks to a wooden dog named Burek and the big heart behind him.
