Chubby Pup Who Could Hardly Move Melted Hearts At The Shelter With His Sweet Personality
When a little pup named Jammy showed up at Marin Humane, a rescue center in Novato, California, he quickly won over everyone’s heart.
With his big smile and sweet nature, it didn’t take long before the staff completely fell in love with him.
Jammy’s Arrival
Jammy came to the shelter after his previous owner could no longer care for him.
At the time, he weighed a whopping 17.6 pounds—which was far too much for such a tiny dog. His ideal weight should have been closer to ten pounds.

Because of his size, Jammy found it hard to move around and preferred being carried. He loved all the attention and didn’t mind being treated like royalty.
But the extra weight wasn’t the only thing the team had to worry about.
After a vet checkup, they discovered he had 13 bladder stones that needed to be taken out right away.

Thankfully, that didn’t affect his mood—Jammy stayed cheerful and loving through it all.
Even while dealing with health problems, Jammy kept showing his playful side and brought smiles to everyone around him.
“Jammy is a charming, funny little dude. He’s friendly and easy-going, and he’s been social with everyone he’s met. He also has some silly quirks; for example, he’s enjoyed playing with a cat wand toy! He’s gone through lots of handling in his time at our shelter, due to his health issues, and he’s been a superstar through all of it,” said Julia Lamont, social media and marketing specialist at Marin Humane, to The Dodo.
Healing and Hoping
After surgery to remove the bladder stones, Jammy went to a foster home to recover. He got plenty of love and care, and it didn’t take long for him to bounce back.

Once he returned to the shelter, the staff focused on helping him lose the extra pounds slowly and safely. Jammy continued to show how happy and full of life he was.
He loves cuddling, going for walks in the sunshine, and leading his human wherever he wants to explore.

At mealtimes, Jammy is full of opinions and isn’t shy about sharing them—he makes sure everyone knows exactly how he feels about his food.
He’s also lived peacefully with other animals, so having a furry friend in his future home would be a dream come true.

Jammy is a loving, goofy little gentleman who just wants to be part of a family.
With his happy personality and gentle heart, he’s more than ready to find a forever home full of warmth, love, and maybe a few extra snacks.
