Alexandra Salomon, a young Navy recruit, transported the dog to the rescue center, where they worked tirelessly to save her life.
She was barely hanging on, but with dedicated care, her recovery began.
A Surprising Discovery
As Cali started to regain strength, veterinarians scanned her for a microchip, leading to an unbelievable revelation: the dog was Cali!

After multiple attempts, the shelter finally reached her original owners, Brittney DiBartolo and her family. Overjoyed by the news, they were eager to bring Cali home.
Unfortunately, during her recovery, a new problem arose as a tumor was discovered in Cali.
Though this was tragic news, her family remained hopeful and began to explore treatment options.
Rallying Support For A New Fight
Despite the devastating diagnosis, the family wasn’t ready to give up.
They started a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for Cali’s medical treatment, and by June 2023, they had gathered $8,000 for her care.

With that money, Cali was able to undergo treatment, and soon enough, she was strong enough to reunite with her family.
The reunion was filled with overwhelming joy as Cali was finally back in the arms of her loved ones after such a long time.

She spent her final months surrounded by the love and care of the family that had missed her so much. Every moment was cherished, and Cali embraced the life she had always deserved.
Eventually, Cali’s body gave in to the illness, and she peacefully crossed the rainbow bridge.
