Beloved Pittie Was Sadly Places In A Shelter After Owner Lost Her Home
One day, Kaiko was happily enjoying time with his owner, unaware it would be their last moment together.
The following day, he found himself in an unfamiliar shelter, separated from the person he loved most.
Meet Kaiko, the Pitbull
In October 2022, Albert Harris, a staff photographer and content creator for Orange County Animal Services in Orlando, Florida, shared a video of Kaiko, a brindle Pitbull, that touched hearts across the nation.

According to Harris’s post, Kaiko ended up at the shelter after his owner lost her home, leaving them both without a place to stay. In a heartbreaking but selfless move, she surrendered her beloved dog, hoping he would find a better life.
“The dog was adopted from Pet Alliance three years ago, so he had a home for the majority of his life,” Harris wrote on his Instagram account.

In these tough economic times, more dogs like Kaiko find themselves homeless through no fault of their own.
“We understand things happen, and we are in an impending recession. Now it is up to us to find him a home he deserves,” Harris urged, hoping to find a loving family for this sweet boy.
Though Kaiko was in good spirits, he couldn’t understand why he was there, likely wondering why his mom had left him.
“Together we are getting animals adopted! Let’s do it again,” Harris said in the video.
A Happy Ending for Kaiko
Thanks to Harris’s videos, which often receive a lot of views, many animals at Orange County Animal Services find new homes.

Kaiko’s video was no exception, with over 25,000 people seeing, commenting, and sharing his story.
“He’s so beautiful, full of love and life. Praying he will find a forever loving home. Pets are family and a lifetime commitment…. Humans need to do better.❤️” one person commented under the post.
Fortunately, their prayers were quickly answered, and soon enough, Kaiko was adopted into a wonderful home, where he now receives all the love and stability he deserves.
