Anxious Dog Who Trusted No One Melts Into His New Dad’s Arms

Many dogs go through hard times—some are left behind, hurt, or forced to survive alone.
Buddy was one of them, but everything changed when the right person came along and gave him a chance at a better life.

However, after two months of persistent attempts, rescuers finally managed to trap and save him from the streets of Oregon.
“Buddy was dumped at a really common spot where they dump dogs.” Lee Asher, who chose to adopt Buddy, shared with The Dodo.

When they first met, Buddy barked at Asher out of fear. But once he realized that Asher meant no harm and wanted to help, he quickly relaxed.
The bond between them grew stronger, and they made significant progress together.

“I do not judge what I’ve just experienced with him barking and stuff like that. We are about to be in a new environment and it’s gonna be different. I can feel it. I know it. I trust it, and I trust him.” Asher said to The Dodo.

Learning To Trust Again
Upon arriving at Asher’s house in Portland, Buddy began to settle into his new surroundings.
Right from the first day, Asher noticed that Buddy was adjusting well.

“This is his first day here. They need to know that he can speak for himself. They need to know that he is willing to set boundaries. If I have to step in, I will, but, if you have a pack, you have to let them discuss what is going on themselves.” Asher commented.
Buddy quickly became comfortable, making new friends with the other dogs and showing less anxiety.
He soon started to exhibit the playful and happy behavior of a well-adjusted dog.

Despite experiencing significant hardship, Buddy was ready to trust humans again, demonstrating the deep bond that dogs can form with their caretakers.
