Mysterious Dog Arrives At Shelter And Turns Out To Surprise Everyone
A neglected pup, forgotten by the world, found her way to the shelter and stunned everyone with her incredible resilience.

When a severely matted ball of fur was brought to Central Missouri Humane Society (CMHS), the staff was puzzled.
No one knew what kind of dog was hidden beneath the mess.

The person who brought her in said she was found curled up in a small dog bed in a supermarket parking lot.
Shelter workers sprang into action, determined to give the dog the care she desperately needed.
The poor dog’s fur was so matted that it was home to fleas, and she couldn’t even walk properly due to the tangles.
Recovering And Learning To Live With Scars
The veterinary team at the shelter decided to anesthetize the pup to make sure she wouldn’t feel any discomfort during the grooming process.
It took nearly three hours to remove all the mats!

Her matting was so severe that it had forced one of her eyes shut. Additionally, her overgrown toenails had pierced her paw pads, causing even more pain.
After shaving her down, they gave her a much-needed bath.
Precious, as she was later named, finally resembled a dog again, but her struggles weren’t over.

X-rays revealed that she had been in this condition for so long that her paws had deformed, and she also suffered from several broken bones.
The news from the Missouri Vet Med’s orthopedic department wasn’t promising. They concluded there were no treatments to reverse the damage, and her care would have to focus on keeping her comfortable.
But the kind hearts at CMHS refused to give up on Precious.
A Foster Home Full Of Love
After her story was shared on Facebook, Precious quickly found a loving foster home.
Her foster parents showered her with love, making her feel safe and comfortable while helping her regain strength.

Her fur began to grow back, soft and clean, and she even started to sit up on her own.
With time and care, Precious found her forever home, where she now receives all the love and attention she deserves from the start.
Precious’s life took a dramatic turn, and she now lives her best life, surrounded by love.
