Scared Pittie Rescued From Abandoned House Transforms Completely
While exploring a row of abandoned houses in St. Louis, Donna, a rescuer from Stray Rescue of St. Louis, realized they could be hiding places for scared, abandoned dogs.
Curious to investigate further, she soon came across a little Pittie desperately in need of assistance.
A Tricky Rescue
Initially, Donna planned to set a trap, hoping the pup would wander in on her own. But when the dog didn’t appear, Donna decided to investigate further.
Moving to the back of the house, she was surprised by what she found.
“There were actually footprints going up into the house. So she had to have gotten to the top of the steps and then pretty much jumped into the house,” Donna told The Dodo.
Realizing the stairs were too dangerous to climb, Donna and her team searched for a safer entry.
They managed to get into the house through the basement, where they assumed the dog wouldn’t be lingering due to a broken pipe.
Donna then cautiously made her way upstairs, but it wasn’t until she reached the third floor that she spotted a small head peeking out from the trash.
Donna gently approached the scared dog, speaking softly to reassure her that help had arrived. The little Pittie hesitated at first but eventually let Donna leash her. With a slight tug, the dog began to follow, and soon, they were on their way out of the house.
Once outside, the pup was more than eager to hop into the car, and on the ride to the rescue center, she couldn’t contain her excitement.
The grateful dog showered Donna and her team with kisses, showing just how much she appreciated their rescue.
“The aggressive pit bull mindset is just not true. They’re the sweetest, most loving dogs,” Donna noted, reflecting on the pup’s gentle nature.
A Bright Future Ahead
At the shelter, the staff quickly checked the Pittie for a microchip, but when none was found, they put her up for adoption.
It didn’t take long before a loving family reached out, eager to welcome this sweet dog into their home.
Now surrounded by warmth and care, the once-frightened Pittie has transformed into a happy and affectionate companion, thriving in her new life.
