Teen Secretly Sneaks Lost Puppy Home Once Parents Are Asleep

This is the story of a teenager who cared for a lost dog and reunited him with his family, even though his parents wouldn’t allow the dog inside their home.

Taking Care Of A Lost Pup

On a rainy day in Selma, California, a teenager named Ubaldo Apolinar heard scratching noises at his front door.

When he went to investigate, he discovered a small puppy taking refuge from the rain on his porch.

Feeling a strong sense of duty to protect the puppy, Ubaldo wanted to bring her inside, but his parents refused because they already had a dog and were limited to one pet by their landlord.

Despite not being able to bring her in, Ubaldo couldn’t leave the puppy out in the rain. He quickly fetched some food from his own dog’s supply to give to the puppy.

“At first, she backed away a little bit, but I kept getting closer to her, and once I pet her, she basically trusted me,” Ubaldo shared with The Dodo.

The pink collar around her neck led Ubaldo to believe she was lost and that her owners might be searching for her.

Searching For Her Family

To help the puppy find her way home, Ubaldo joined several community Facebook groups and posted about the lost dog, hoping her owners would recognize her.

In the meantime, he made sure the puppy was well-fed and clean. He even crafted a small shelter from a cardboard box to keep her warm during the night.

But his concern for her being outside grew, and he ended up sneaking her inside after his parents had gone to bed.

Once inside, he took the puppy to the bathroom, where they played quietly to avoid waking anyone. He even fashioned a makeshift sweater for her using an old sock.

“I was getting attached to her. I wish I could have kept her, but I knew the right thing to do was to take her back to her owners,” Ubaldo admitted.

Finally Getting Back Home

The following day, Ubaldo received a message from someone who believed the puppy might be theirs. Right when his parents caught him!

“I got a potential owner request and after light social media stalking and passing by her house, her story checked out,” Ubaldo explained to The Dodo.

The person lived close by in Selma, not far from Ubaldo’s home, so they arranged to meet that day.

Before returning the puppy, Ubaldo spent a final moment playing with her in the yard, enjoying her playful and spirited nature.

“Right before I returned her, I played with her one last time in the yard with the tennis ball she liked to play with, and I enjoyed the time with her. She was very fun to hang out with. She was very spunky and adorable,” Ubaldo recalled.

When Ubaldo handed the puppy back, the owner’s daughter revealed that the dog’s name was Bubba. After all his efforts, Bubba was finally back where she belonged.

Luckily, Bubba’s home was nearby, so Ubaldo knew he could visit her whenever he wanted.
