Terrified Mama And Her 4 Puppies Found In Abandoned Backyard Now Has The Biggest Smile
A mother dog was found living in awful conditions with her puppies in an abandoned backyard in Missouri.
They had no clean water, no food, and no shelter. Life was tough, but everything changed the day help arrived.
She Looked So Tired And Sad
When Donna Lochmann and the team from Stray Rescue of St. Louis heard about a stray mama and her pups, they rushed to the scene. What they found broke their hearts.

The mom, later named Donutfest, looked exhausted and terrified.
Her face was full of sadness, and her body showed signs of struggle. She was thin, had a wound on her head, and her skin was in rough shape from living outside.

But Donna didn’t give up. With a few tasty treats, she gently coaxed Donutfest into the car.
Then she carefully picked up her four tiny puppies and brought the whole little family to safety.
They were taken straight to a vet clinic, where they were checked out.

Thankfully, even though they were clearly worn down, there were no serious health problems.
They were finally safe and ready for a fresh start.
A Whole New Dog
After just a few days of care at the rescue, Donutfest began to change.
She went from nervous and unsure to cheerful and loving. Her true personality started to shine, and everyone at the shelter was amazed.

“Donutfest is nothing but sugar and sweetness,” the team shared. “The wound on her head is healing, her scars are fading, and she is so happy knowing her babies are safe.”
Even after all the hard things she went through, Donutfest remained gentle and kind.
She had a huge smile, bright eyes, and a heart full of love. She got along with every dog she met and even gave out hugs.
“She is like a cartoon dog with her huge smile and big, expressive eyes! She’s been great with all the dogs she’s met and is just perfect in every way,” the rescue added.

It didn’t take long for Donutfest and her pups to capture everyone’s hearts. Their story spread, and soon, they were each welcomed into loving homes.
Now, Donutfest has left that backyard behind. She enjoys fun adventures with her new family and lives the happy, peaceful life she always deserved.
Her past may have been rough, but her future is full of love.
