15-Year-Old Dog Left At Cat Rescue Gets A Second Chance
This story is about a senior dog named Honey who was abandoned by her owners and left at an unlikely place—a cat rescue in Ohio.
A Pup At A Cat Rescue
Kay Banks was going about her usual day at Tabby Tails Cat Rescue when she noticed something unusual outside.
Upon stepping out, she saw a dog circling the cat rescue and initially thought it was a neighbor’s pet. But after taking a closer look, Kay realized the dog had been abandoned.
The dog, later named Honey, was allowed inside and was clearly a senior, with gray hairs showing her age.
After scanning for a microchip, Kay discovered Honey was at least 15 years old. She contacted the previous owners, but they didn’t want her back, leaving Honey in Kay’s care for now.
A Good Boi In Need Of A Home
Kay was determined to find a loving home for Honey, but it wasn’t easy since she typically worked with cats and Honey was a senior dog.
Taking Honey to a dog shelter was an option, but Kay feared she might be euthanized if a home couldn’t be found quickly.
In the meantime, Kay took great care of Honey, addressing her health problems.
Honey had arthritis, so Kay arranged laser therapy, which greatly improved her mobility and reduced pain. She also treated Honey for other issues like overgrown nails, ticks, and fleas, with the help of a vet.
As time passed, Honey settled in nicely and grew attached to Kay.
While Kay remains hopeful that someone will adopt Honey and give her the loving home she deserves, she’s happy to care for her until that day comes.
