Sweet 6-Legged Dog Was Heartlessly Abandoned In A Car Park Because She Was Born Different
A tiny spaniel pup with six legs was abandoned in a parking lot and nearly lost her chance at life.
But thanks to a kind rescue and a lot of love, her story took a beautiful turn.
Ariel Was Born Different But That Didn’t Stop Her
When rescuers first found a tiny spaniel puppy left alone in a car park, they immediately knew something was special about her.

The little girl, soon named Ariel, wasn’t like most pups. She had six legs and some other unusual features. But what really stood out was her sweet spirit.

The team at Greenacres Rescue shared her story on Facebook, explaining that Ariel had extra limbs and a malformed pelvis.
Despite not knowing where she came from, they were determined to help her live a normal, happy life.

She was taken to the vet for a full checkup and tests. Thankfully, the results showed she was healthy, and her extra limbs could be removed through surgery.

“Ariel has two additional back legs and the beginnings of an additional vulva. Her pelvis hasn’t formed properly due to the extra hip joint. The plan will be to let her settle after her ordeal and reassess her in one month with the aim of removing the additional limbs and explore the function of her remaining leg,” the rescue explained.
Ariel got her name after someone said she looked like a mermaid – and it stuck.
Recovery And A Second Chance
After a period of rest, Ariel went through scans and met with specialists to prepare for surgery. When the day finally came, everything went well.
“She’s doing really well,” said her surgeon, Aaron Lutchman, to the BBC. “She’s bounced back and she’s a happy little dog.”
Just one day later, Ariel was already walking around and checking out her new space.
A loving foster family stepped up to help her recover, making sure she had everything she needed.
In just a few months, Ariel made a full recovery and was finally ready to find a forever home.
A Happy Ending She Deserved
Ariel had become a bit of a celebrity, and her shelter was flooded with adoption applications.
