Shelter Dog Unnoticed For 11 Years Finally Finds A Loving Home

While some dogs secure their forever homes within days or weeks, even if it means traveling great distances, others, like Vanessa, have to wait for years.

Vanessa’s story is one of perseverance and hope, spanning over a decade at the Villalobos Rescue Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Vanessa Was Dumped Shortly After Birth

In August 2012, Vanessa was just a puppy when her family surrendered her to the rescue center. There was no reason for her abandonment, yet her owners chose to leave her at the shelter.

“Her little life had barely started and already she was unwanted and minutes away from dying in the back of a sweltering hot box of a truck,” Villalobos Rescue Center (VRC) shared on Facebook.

Despite her gentle nature and friendly personality, Vanessa was consistently overlooked by potential adopters.

“Vanessa is one of those that slipped through the cracks,” the VRC team explained.

Years passed, and Vanessa remained at the shelter, unnoticed and unwanted. Now an 11-year-old senior, her spirit has remained unbroken, and her eyes still shine as brightly as ever.

A Patient And Loving Companion

Even after spending her entire life in a shelter, Vanessa is known for her calm demeanor and well-mannered behavior. She currently lives in one of the VRC satellite locations with other senior dogs, enjoying their company.

“She is perfectly crate trained. She gets along with other dogs (...), She is just that amazing” reads her profile.

Vanessa loves spending time with people and cherishes every moment volunteers visit the shelter.

She’s friendly with everyone she meets, and though she’s older and less energetic, she still enjoys lounging with other dogs and finding joy in simple things like cozy beds.

She Finally Found Her Family After 11 Years Of Waiting

Just when it seemed Vanessa would spend the rest of her life in a shelter, her lucky day finally arrived.

After VRC shared a post about Vanessa on their Facebook page, a former adopter stepped up and offered her a home.

He had a heart of gold and wanted to give this sweet senior Pit Bull the love she deserved. Vanessa couldn’t have been happier.

After 11 long years, Vanessa finally found the warmth and care she had been searching for since that fateful August day.

She’s now part of a loving family that appreciates her for the perfect girl she is.
