Shelter Dog Reunited With His Family After A Grandmother Follows Her Gut Feeling

A shelter dog had been waiting for a family to choose him, never knowing that his true home was closer than he thought.

One visitor felt an unexplainable connection to him as if they were meant to be together.

Following a gut instinct, that moment led to a heartwarming discovery no one expected.

A Journey Guided By Instinct

Kano, known as Skillet during his time at the shelter, arrived at DeKalb County Animal Services in Georgia after being separated from his family.

Despite his sweet and loving nature, Kano spent five long months in the shelter waiting for a home.

With space running out, Kano was transferred to the LifeLine Animal Project adoption center in Atlanta, where his journey took an incredible turn.

Soon after the move, Kano’s photo caught the eye of someone who felt an unshakable connection to him.

Kano, formerly known as Skillet to his shelter family, has found his way home! He found the best outcome; being reunited with his family!“, the team at LifeLine Animal Project shared on Facebook.

Kano’s grandmother had followed her gut instinct to search for him and found his photo on the shelter’s website.

A Heartfelt Reunion

The woman explained that her son had raised Kano in the Blue Ridge Mountains and adored him deeply.

When her son joined the Army, she had to rehome Kano due to family commitments but always felt an intuitive pull to find him again.

I randomly started looking online one night and found another dog that looked like him. I found the LifeLine website and there he was. I emailed and came the next night after work. I’m so thankful for everything,” she shared.

When she arrived at the shelter, Kano immediately recognized her.

According to Patricia Knowles Hughes, Placement Manager at LifeLine Animal Project, “The kennel tech said he did a 360 turn around when she walked up and called him Kano. They definitely had everyone in the building crying happy tears.

A Forever Home Filled With Love

Kano’s grandmother was now in a position to provide him with the home he deserved, complete with a fenced-in backyard where he could play freely.

Although Kano’s original owner, her son, could only see him through FaceTime due to military deployment, Kano responded happily to his voice over the phone.

I knew in my soul he needed me; it’s like he was calling me somehow. I tell him every day I’m sorry and that I love him so much,” she said.

Sometimes life’s twists and turns lead to a perfect reunion, proving that a strong bond can endure even the longest separations.
