Tiny Puppy And Kitten Rejected By Their Moms Share The Cutest Friendship Ever

When two of the tiniest newborns ended up needing extra care, one foster mom stepped in with love—and a clever idea.

What happened next?

A puppy and a kitten formed the sweetest little friendship.

The Littlest Ones

When foster carer Emilie Rackovan from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, heard about a dog giving birth at the local animal control, she knew she had to help.

The mama pup delivered two babies on the way and six more at the shelter. Since it wasn’t the best place for newborns, Emilie quickly found a foster home for the little family.

But when she went to check on the litter, she noticed something right away.

One of the pups, Possum, was much smaller than the others—about a third of their size and very thin.

So Emilie took her in as a bottle baby, hoping she could grow strong enough to be reunited with her siblings later.

At the same time, Emilie was also fostering a mama cat and her kittens. They had been found in a garage, not a great place for raising babies either.

One kitten, Kangaroo, was also the runt of her litter and needed special care.

Tiny Bond, Big Comfort

Taking care of runts isn’t easy. They’re fragile, need constant attention, and are more likely to have health issues.

Emilie knew this, but she was determined to give them the best shot at growing up strong.

Since both Possum and Kangaroo hated being alone and cried for comfort, Emilie had an idea. She put them together—and it worked.

Neither wanted to be alone and they would cry and cry, so I tried putting them together. They immediately became inseparable,” she said to Newsweek.

From that moment on, the two tiny babies cuddled up together and napped side by side. They only cried now when it was time to eat.

Their sweet friendship made the hard days a little easier.

As the days went by, both Possum and Kangaroo started growing healthier and stronger.  Soon, they were able to return to their moms and reunite with their littermates.

Emilie hopes their story reminds people how special animals are—especially the ones that need just a little more help.

She’s confident that both of these brave little buddies will find loving forever homes when the time is right.
