Puppy Abandoned With Chair And TV Waits For His Family To Come Back

This dog was dumped on the side of a road. He was found alone, starving, and waiting for his family to come and get him back.

This is La-Z-Boy Gatson’s story.

He Was Dumped On A Deserted Street

In June 2019, a little puppy, later named La-Z-Boy Gatson, was found abandoned on a desolate stretch of road in Lincoln County, Mississippi.

The 4-month-old pup was clinging to a recliner chair and an old TV that had been dumped alongside him.

He sat there, frail and starving, still hoping his owners would return, not realizing they had left him behind for good.

Getting Him Out Of This Situation

Animal Control Officer Sharon Norton was the first to arrive at the scene. The sight of the lonely puppy waiting by the chair was heartbreaking.

Despite his condition, the little pup’s eyes were filled with hope. He didn’t want to leave the spot where he was left, still believing his owners might come back for him.

Norton slowly approached the pup, offering him food and gentle, comforting words. It didn’t take long for him to trust her, feeling safe for the first time in days.

As she picked him up to carry him to her truck, he wagged his tail, knowing he was finally in safe hands.

Finding Comfort And Care

Norton took the pup to the Brookhaven City Shelter, where he was given a bath and treatment for ringworm. From there, he was transferred to Brookhaven Animal Rescue League to continue his recovery.

Norton decided to name him La-Z-Boy Gatson after the recliner and the road where he was found.

At the shelter, La-Z-Boy quickly showed his friendly nature. He loved napping, playing with other dogs, and especially splashing around in the water.

Once he was back to full health, he was placed in foster care, where he waited for a forever family.

Finding A Loving Family

One month after his rescue, La-Z-Boy Gatson’s story reached a couple in Michigan, Dave Trammell and Sommer Guy.

They were so touched by his story that they drove over 15 hours to Mississippi to meet and adopt him.

“Something about the way he looked just touched me. He just looked so cute and sad,” Trammell shared.

La-Z-Boy quickly adapted to his new home in Plymouth, Michigan. Within days, he was completely relaxed, often sleeping with his belly up, a sure sign of a happy, secure dog.

He now enjoys car rides with his dog sister, Penelope, and continues to love napping in his forever home.
