Woman Took Her Dogs Hiking Then Realized She Forgot Something Big

Not Your Usual Dog Walk Setup
Paulina had been driving for two hours, excited to go on a hike with her two small dogs.
But once she arrived, she realized she’d forgotten something important—their leashes.

Turning back wasn’t an option. So instead of letting it ruin the day, she searched her car for anything that might work as a last-minute solution.
That’s when she spotted a few things meant for a charity shop: old USB cables and a pair of headphones. Not ideal, but it sparked an idea.
Making It Work With What She Had
With no other choice, Paulina got creative. She tied the USB cables around one dog and used the headphones for the other.

One of them wasn’t even actually attached—just a phantom lead—but somehow, the dogs didn’t notice.
“They didn’t figure out that those weren’t their leads,” she said, relieved.
That meant the hike could go on.

While they did get some odd looks along the trail, Paulina didn’t care. Her dogs were safe, and that was all that mattered.
As she told Newsweek, “Walking them off the lead was not an option. They don’t have a good recall; typical small dogs, they do what they want.”
