Precious Dog Scheduled For Euthanasia Gets A Miracle That Changes Everything
In overcrowded shelters, some dogs don’t get the chance they deserve.
When Holly was about to be euthanized, she found a lifeline that changed her life forever.
Holly’s Heartwarming Beginning
Holly’s story began in the Dallas Animal Shelter, where a woman named Janae met her by chance.
Holly was a stray, severely malnourished, and blind in one eye, but despite her hardships, she caught Janae’s eye.
“She was not running up to the window like most of the dogs do, to get attention. I asked the volunteer if we could just take her out in the yard just to get her out of the kennel and spend some time with her,” Janae shared with GeoBeats Animals.
When Holly saw the leash, she was terrified, so another volunteer had to pick her up and carry her to the yard. But once outside, Holly’s excitement was undeniable.
“Once we were out in the yard, she just started running around and was so happy to be out. There was another dog on the other side and they could see each other through the gate. And she started play bowing and wanting to play with him,” Janae added.
But unfortunately, Holly’s happiness was short-lived.
Due to overcrowding and her injuries, the shelter deemed her unadoptable and scheduled her for euthanasia.
“I called my husband and I said ‘She does not want to go back in there, she can not stay here. I’m so sorry but we have to bring home another foster,’” Janae explained.
A Fresh Start With Love
The moment Janae brought Holly into her care, she made sure Holly’s first day was filled with love.
She took her to the groomer for a much-needed bath and then to a pet store for new toys.
However, once they reached Janae’s house, Holly was still scared and timid, retreating to the corner of her new home.
It didn’t take long, though, for Holly to realize that this was a safe place. With the support of her new dog siblings, she began to open up and trust again.
“They helped her know that we were safe and that our home was a safe place for her,” Janae shared.
Soon, Holly began enjoying her new life, running around the yard with her doggo siblings and becoming the ultimate couch potato.
She loved nothing more than cuddling up with her humans after a fun play session.
Holly Finds Her Forever Family
After a year of fostering Holly, Janae and her husband couldn’t imagine life without her.
They knew Holly was meant for a loving family, and they couldn’t wait for her to find her perfect forever home.
“This adoption is a million percent worth the wait for the most perfect family. Her wonderful people saw her on Facebook and live in Washington state. They lost their beautiful dog earlier this year, sweet Georgia, who was a DPA Alumni,” Janae shared on Instagram.
Holly’s forever family knew she was the one as soon as they saw her on Facebook.
Now, Holly is where she was always meant to be—surrounded by love and adoration.
