Man Set Out To Adopt One Pit Bull From Shelter, But Falls In Love With Two

After spending 105 long days at a care center in California, a sweet 6-year-old Pit Bull named Wiley had been waiting for his forever home.

Every day, he longed for the moment he could run free in a yard of his own. But when Jon walked into the shelter, Wiley’s life was about to take a huge turn.

Jon initially came to adopt Smokey, another Pit Bull. However, as soon as he saw Wiley sitting quietly in the corner of his kennel, Jon couldn’t leave without him. So, with a big heart and lots of love, Jon took both dogs home that day.

Finally Rescued After Over 100 Days Of Waiting At The Shelter

Even after Jon and Smokey left the shelter, Wiley was still on Jon’s mind.

Wiley had been overlooked for months at Carson Animal Care Center, even though he was an affectionate and playful pup who just needed a chance.

His shelter team adored him, describing him as a sweet, toy-loving dog who would be perfect for a family with a yard and older kids.

Unable to stop thinking about Wiley, Jon made a decision. He returned to the shelter to give Wiley the loving home he deserved. Wiley was overjoyed, melting into Jon’s arms and showering him with kisses all the way home.

Jon’s initial plan was to foster Wiley until a permanent family was found, but things didn’t go as expected.

Thriving Thanks To Jon’s Care

Wiley had spent so long in a kennel that he didn’t know how to play or interact with Smokey at first. It was likely no one had ever taken the time to play with him before.

But with Jon’s patience and a spacious backyard, Wiley slowly learned how to enjoy life as a dog.

He bonded with Smokey, learned how to play tug-of-war, and enjoyed long walks with his new buddy.

Wiley blossomed under Jon’s care, but months passed, and no one had stepped forward to adopt him. Jon remained hopeful, knowing the right family would come along.

After eight months of fostering, that day finally arrived.

Finding His Forever Home

A wonderful family from Modesto, California, fell in love with Wiley’s story and knew they had to bring him home for good. Jon was thrilled, though saying goodbye was bittersweet.

On the day of Wiley’s departure, Jon spent a special morning cuddling with him and even let him sit in the front seat for the ride to his new home, much to Smokey’s jealousy.

“Smokey and Wiley sure were buds! Now it’s time for us to say goodbye and send Wiley off to his forever home,” Jon shared with The Dodo.

When Wiley arrived at his new home, he immediately showered his new family with love, as if he’d been with them all along. Seeing how happy Wiley was, Jon felt at peace, though parting with his buddy brought tears.

Jon left knowing that Wiley had finally found the loving home he deserved, free from the fear of ever being abandoned again. And Jon and Smokey promised to visit their friend soon, knowing Wiley was exactly where he was meant to be.
