Hikers Couldn’t Believe Their Eyes After Finding 7 Puppies Left In A Box In The Mountains
Two hikers were exploring the foothills of the Owyhee Mountains in Idaho when they heard soft whimpers nearby.
Curious and concerned, they followed the sound—and what they found broke their hearts.
A Shocking Discovery In The Wilderness
Inside a large black plastic bin were seven tiny puppies. They were skin and bones, clearly starving and thirsty.

No one knew how long they had been left there, but it was obvious they wouldn’t have survived much longer on their own.
The hikers were heartbroken but didn’t waste a second. They started reaching out to local rescues right away. Unfortunately, most were already full and couldn’t take the puppies in.

Just when things seemed uncertain, Lake Lowell Animal Rescue stepped up.
“We had a surprise with 7 emaciated, dehydrated puppies who were found abandoned in a remote location in a box,” the rescue shared on Facebook.

Although their shelter was already crowded, they simply couldn’t turn their backs on these helpless pups.
Healing Begins
As soon as the puppies arrived at the rescue, they were given the medical care they needed.
Slowly but surely, their health began to improve. With some food, water, and gentle care, they started showing their real personalities.

Even though they had been through something terrible, they were full of love and joy.
It was clear from their behavior that they had once been around people—they were friendly, playful, and eager for affection.
Soon, they became the stars of the rescue.
A Community Full Of Heart
The story of the abandoned puppies quickly spread, and the local community didn’t hesitate to help. People sent in boxes filled with food and toys, bringing the rescue team to tears.

“The boxes of puppy food and toys we begged for a few days ago have started arriving and we are so grateful we were in tears a few times. We have never seen anything like this with puppies before. It’s crazy sauce you guys. We are so grateful these kids were found in time,” the team wrote on Facebook.
Thanks to the outpouring of support, every one of the seven puppies found a temporary foster home.
Melissa Blackmer, who leads the rescue, was deeply moved by how many people stepped up.

“We can’t state enough how important foster homes are to animal rescues. We depend on foster homes just as much as we do their forever homes,” she told The Dodo.
These puppies still have a little more growing to do before they’re ready for adoption. For now, they’re enjoying love and care in their foster homes.
When the time is right, they’ll each go to a forever home where they’ll be loved for life—and never feel abandoned again.
