Foster Dog Surprises Everyone After Vets Assured She Wasn’t Pregnant
Cheesecake, a sweet stray from Oklahoma, had been wandering the streets until a rescue organization called A Friend of Jack stepped in to save her.
Little did anyone know, her story was about to take an unexpected turn.
When Iliana Broad, a woman from Denver, learned Cheesecake needed a foster home, it was love at first sight.
Determined to help the little pup, Iliana arranged for Cheesecake to be flown to Colorado, where a better life awaited her.
Settling In
Once Cheesecake arrived, Iliana’s main focus was to help her adjust, gain weight, and rest.

Cheesecake quickly settled into her new surroundings, but something about her behavior caught Iliana’s attention.
“I realized she was showing some early pregnancy signs. I asked the women at A Friend of Jack if they had been told she was pregnant, and they said there was no indication that she was, but that I should take her to the vet for a quick scan. We went to the closest vet, and they said there were no visible puppies in any imaging.” Iliana shared.

A trip to the vet revealed no puppies on the scans, and it seemed Cheesecake wasn’t pregnant after all.
Still, Iliana couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more to the story.
A Surprise In Store
As the weeks passed, Cheesecake’s belly began to grow. Iliana trusted her instincts and returned to the vet for another checkup.

This time, the scans confirmed the shocking news—Cheesecake was not only pregnant but just days away from giving birth!

The vet couldn’t even count the puppies accurately.
“One vet said nine, another said ten, and we all just laughed about how bonkers that imaging was,” Iliana recalled.
Becoming A Mom
A week later, Cheesecake delivered nine healthy and adorable puppies with Iliana by her side.

Staying true to their mom’s name, the litter was given charming dessert-inspired names: Mocha, Oreo, Pumpkin, Strawberry, Blueberry, Cocoa, Fudge, Vanilla Bean, and Turtle.
Unfortunately, Cheesecake fell seriously ill after giving birth and couldn’t nurse her pups.
Iliana and her partner took on the responsibility of bottle-feeding each puppy around the clock. Despite the hard work, their love for Cheesecake only deepened.

After all they had been through, Iliana and her partner couldn’t bear to part with Cheesecake and decided to adopt her officially.
The nine puppies quickly found forever homes, while Cheesecake now enjoys a life of comfort and love with her new family.
Free from her days of struggle on the streets, Cheesecake finally gets to focus on herself and live her best life.
