Rescuer Can't Believe Condition Of Scared Puppy After Rescue

Poppy is a sweet pup who was adopted by a family who treated her more like a toy for their child than a pet.

Sadly, she faced neglect and mistreatment, but in the end, it was a blessing in disguise. She was rescued and is now living a much better life filled with love and care.

Abandoned After Being Used As A Toy

Poppy was originally bought for a young girl, but the situation quickly turned sour.

The little girl began using markers to color all over Poppy, making the puppy fearful and sad.

Constant crying led her owners to decide she wasn’t what they had hoped for and surrender her.

Rescuing And Restoring Puppy’s Trust

Lee Asher, the founder of The Asher House in Oregon, was alerted about Poppy’s abandonment.

When he arrived to pick her up, he found her covered in marker ink and trembling with fear.

He gently lifted her and placed her in his car, recognizing the depth of her trauma.

Back at his house, Lee reassured Poppy with kisses, letting her know she was now safe. Understanding her fear, he chose to introduce her to the other dogs at a later time, allowing her to acclimate first.

He provided food and a chance to rest, but even after a soothing bath, Poppy remained anxious and wary. Lee continued to comfort her with cuddles, which gradually helped her start to relax.

Embracing Her New Life

Poppy was soon introduced to the other rescue dogs at The Asher House. They immediately accepted her, offering play and affection.

The warmth from her new furry family helped Poppy begin to feel secure. As Poppy settled in, her true personality began to emerge. She transformed into a lively and confident dog.

“As days went by, I realized how special she really is. I never had a dog like her before. She is so fun and adventurous and outgoing. The complete opposite of who the dog was when I first found her,” said Asher.

Her tail was always wagging, and she loved exploring the Oregon woods with Asher and the pack.

Poppy now thrives in her new home, surrounded by love and care.
