Abandoned And Scared Dog Gives The Biggest Hug To His Rescuers

Mr. Snufflufugus, a lovable American bulldog mix, captured hearts from the moment he was rescued by Copperas Cove Animal Control in Texas.

He was so thankful to be rescued that he immediately went to give a big hug to his new friends, and melted everyone’s heart.

A New Beginning in Texas

When Mr. Snufflufugus, affectionately known as Snuffy, was found roaming the streets of Copperas Cove, Texas, he was scared and alone.

But his luck turned around when he was brought to the local animal control facility and met Tamara Hall, the animal control supervisor.

Snuffy quickly showed his affectionate nature, offering Hall a hug that was captured in a touching photo by another staff member, Victoria Watkins-Killebrew.

“[He’s] a cuddle bug for sure,” Hall said. “If you are sitting on the floor or ground, he is sure to seek your attention by climbing into your lap or snuggling up next to you. He uses his irresistible sweet eyes while looking up for attention.”

This image, showcasing Snuffy’s need for affection, went viral and led to a massive outpouring of adoption inquiries.

Transition to a Bigger Rescue

Despite the small shelter’s limited resources, the staff worked diligently to find a more suitable placement for Snuffy.

But they were overwhelmed by the large amount of adoption requests that they received, coming from the viral photo.

Mr. Snufflufugus was moved to Pit Squad Rescue in Minnesota, a rescue specializing in bully breeds, who would be better suited to handle the applications.

“This boy has been so grateful to everyone he comes in contact with & so happy to be safe. & you can guess… loves to snuggle & hugs. Welcome to Pit Squad Rescue MN Mr. Snufs! We cannot wait to find you your furever home 🐾”

This move provided Snuffy with the chance to receive the care and attention he needed, particularly as he faced health challenges like heartworm, which required expensive treatment.

Challenges and Recovery

Snuffy’s health was a significant concern upon his arrival in Minnesota.

Just before his transport, he tested positive for heartworm, a condition that threatened his life due to an enlarged heart and damaged lungs.

However, his foster mom, Stephanie Easley, and the Pit Squad team were committed to his recovery.

They prepared for the costly treatment and the intensive care that followed, proving their dedication to Snuffy’s well-being.
