Adorable Grandpa Builds A Dog Train To Bring Joy To Rescued Dogs
Despite retiring over 15 years ago, Eugene Bostick found a new purpose: helping rescued dogs enjoy a life full of adventure.
His solution? A brilliant and heartwarming dog train.
Creating A Safe Place For Abandoned Dogs
Eugene didn’t set out to become a caretaker for rescued dogs, but he felt it was his duty to help them when others wouldn’t.
Living on a dead-end street with his brother in a house with a horse barn, they often found abandoned dogs left to starve.
Instead of ignoring the problem, they started feeding the dogs, taking them in, and ensuring they were spayed or neutered. They even made a safe place for them to live.
The Dog Train Idea
Over the years, Eugene rescued many stray dogs and provided them with a safe haven on his farm. The dogs enjoyed running around and breathing in the fresh air, but Eugene had a fantastic idea to make their lives even better.
He got inspired when he saw a man pulling rocks with a tractor and attached carts. Eugene thought, “That would be perfect for a dog train.”
With his welding skills, he transformed plastic barrels into comfortable carts, complete with wheels, and connected them to form a train.
The Dog Train Became A Popular Attraction
And so, the dog train was born.
Eugene takes the dogs for joyrides once or twice a week, letting them enjoy beautiful sightseeing and the thrill of the ride. The dogs absolutely love it. They get excited as soon as they hear Eugene starting the tractor, rushing over for their fun time.
“Whenever they hear me hooking the tractor up to it, man, they get so excited,” Bostick told The Dodo. “They all come running and jump in on their own. They’re ready to go.”
The dog train has become a popular attraction among the locals, who often ask to take pictures of the happy dogs enjoying their ride.
Eugene loves seeing the joy in the dogs’ eyes and is happy to provide them with such a wonderful experience.
A Labor of Love
At 80 years old, Eugene knows he might not be able to continue forever, but he’s committed to keeping the dog train running as long as he can.
“The dogs have a great time. They just really enjoy it,” he says.
Eugene’s dedication and creativity have given these rescued dogs a new lease on life, filled with adventure and happiness. Here’s to many more joyful rides for Eugene and his beloved dogs.
