Driver’s Heart Sinks As He Notices A Tiny Creature Tied To A Tree
Ladybird’s story begins with heartless abandonment, left tied to a tree and waiting for someone to show her love.
Despite her fear and cold, this brave pup remained hopeful that someone would rescue her.
A Heartbreaking Discovery
While driving down a Kentucky road, a driver noticed a small brown and white pup tied to a tree.

They stopped, concerned and heartbroken, then quickly contacted the Lewis County Animal Shelter.
Upon arrival, rescuers immediately brought the little pup, later named Ladybird, to safety.

“She was just so stoic sitting there by the tree, waiting for someone to notice her. So thankful that the shelter found her and took her in. She was found not far from the shelter, actually,” said Kim Desroches of Friends of Lewis County Animals to The Dodo.
Ladybird was frightened and unsure when she arrived at the shelter. At just six to seven weeks old, she was a fragile puppy in need of love and affection.
Leaving The Shelter With Ladybird
Seeing Ladybird’s photo on the shelter’s Facebook page, Kim Desroches was deeply saddened by the sight of the abandoned puppy.
She was determined to find a better place for the sweet girl than the busy shelter.
Desroches, alongside the rescue staff, knew that Ladybird needed a quiet, loving environment where she could heal from the trauma of abandonment.
They quickly made plans to get her out of the shelter.
Ladybird was soon placed in a loving foster home. Her foster mom showered her with affection, helping the timid puppy relax and grow more confident.
The love she received in her foster home soon replaced her fears. Ladybird blossomed into a playful, happy pup, ready to face the world with a new sense of security.
A New Beginning On The Horizon
After spending time in foster care, Ladybird was transferred to Licking County Humane Society, a rescue located in Ohio.
Her future looked brighter than ever.
On January 27th, 2024, the rescue announced that Ladybird was pending adoption, and her story of survival and love was about to take a beautiful turn.
Ladybird, once abandoned and afraid, was now on her way to a forever home where she would always feel cherished and safe.
