Stray Pup Stops A Woman's Car And Leads Her To Someone In Need

One evening in Quincy, Florida, Stacy Batson was driving home, taking her usual route, when something unexpected happened.

A pup darted out from the roadside bushes and began chasing her car.

Stacy knew she had to stop and help.

Rescuing Not One But Two Pups

As she got out of her car, Stacy approached the stray pup carefully. But the pup wasn’t just looking for help for himself—he wanted to lead her to someone else: his brother.

“I came across the two pups on my way home from work. It was late in the evening, but the brindle pup greeted me first. He [appeared to be] the strongest and very friendly and bubbly,” Stacy shared with The Dodo.

When she found the other pup, he was more hesitant and nervous, relying on his sibling for confidence.

Both dogs, however, had sweet natures.

Starving and clearly in need, Stacy shared her uneaten lunch with them. Watching them eat broke her heart, but she knew she had gained their trust.

Though she wasn’t sure how long the two pups had been surviving in the cold, Stacy knew she had to act. She contacted her uncle Silas for help, and he came to the rescue.

“He picked them up and took them to a rescue. I wanted to make sure they were safe and taken care of,” Stacy said to The Dodo.

Waiting Safely For A New Home

Silas brought the pups to Rest Your Paws Pet Refuge Inc. in Quincy, Florida, where they were given a thorough checkup.

Thankfully, the pups were both healthy, and the rescue quickly found them a foster home together. The rescue is hopeful they’ll be adopted as a pair so the two brothers won’t be separated.

Stacy continues to check in on the pups, making sure they’re doing well.

Reflecting on their journey, she said, “The pups have been doing well. It thrills me that such a small gesture of kindness has reached and touched so many.”

Thanks to Stacy, these two pups no longer have to struggle to survive. Now, their only worry is being as adorable as possible while waiting for their forever home.
