This Adorable Giant Cane Corso Helps Raising His Owner’s Baby Boy
Meet with Drax, a gentle giant of a dog, and his tiny best friend!
Together, they play, have fun, and squabble, growing up like true brothers and proving big dogs too can be amazing life companions.
This adorable duo proves that when it comes to friendship, size really doesn’t matter!
Early Days Of Friendship
When Drax, a massive 125-pound Cane Corso, entered his new home at just eight weeks old, his family was on the cusp of another major event—expecting a baby.
Drax and the baby, destined to become inseparable soulmates, started their journey together even before the baby was born.
As the baby grew within his mother’s belly, Drax was always by her side, displaying an innate gentleness.
“As my belly grew, he was always right there… sitting on my lap, laying on my stomach. He was always very gentle with me.”
From the outset, the family focused on early socialization and desensitizing Drax to ensure he would be gentle with the new baby.
When the baby arrived, Drax observed his tiny human brother from a safe distance, his curiosity piqued but always cautious and protective.
The bond between them began to grow, with Drax displaying an uncanny understanding of his role as the baby’s guardian and playmate.
“Drax just loved soaking in this little baby… They just were instantly like little magnets to each other.”
Growing Up Side By Side
As the baby grew and started to explore the world on his feet, Drax was his constant companion.
The duo shared everything, from playing in the baby’s ball pit—despite a few casualties among the balls—to enjoying outings to the park, where both seemed to believe the space was designed just for them.
As the baby learned to roll over, Drax mimicked the movement, rolling onto his back as if to show him how it’s done.
When the baby played in his jumper, Drax was never far away, always watching over him protectively.
“If they hear anything, they’ll just sit there and observe and watch together. They’re always watching out those windows!”
When experiencing Santa for the first time, the boy looked for reassurance not from his parents but from Drax, his faithful friend.
“I think Drax was more of a fan of Santa and Mrs. Claus than our own son was!”, says the mom, laughing.
This gentle giant, despite his intimidating size, proved to be a nurturing presence, fostering a unique bond that was obvious to all who saw them together.
More Than Just A Pet, A Family Member
Drax’s presence in the family has reshaped their views on the role a dog can play in a child’s life.
Far from just being a pet, Drax has become a teacher, protector, and best friend to his human brother.
Their relationship has broken down stereotypes about large dogs and highlighted the beautiful, enriching experiences children can have growing up with a dog.
The story of Drax and his boy is a beautiful reminder of the joy and companionship pets bring into our lives.
Wondering how he’s doing today? Drax is now busy raising not one, but two lovely kids!
