Little Puppy Peeking Out Of Ditch Shocks Rescuer With Heartbreaking Condition

For days, a tiny, scared dog lay in a ditch, wondering why she had been left behind. Her body hurt, she was hungry, and she had no one.

She didn’t understand what she did to deserve such pain and loneliness. But then, something inside her told her to try one more time.

When she heard a kind voice, she slowly crawled out of the ditch — not knowing that her life was about to change forever.

A Gentle Voice And A Helping Hand

Margaret Hamilton, the founder of Ruby and Laurel Animal Rescue in North Carolina, was walking by when she spotted a little white head in the ditch.

As she got closer, she was hit by the smell of infected skin.

This baby has seen the worst of humans, but still belly crawled out of the ditch and into my arms. She goes in first thing tomorrow for medical treatment and vaccines,” Margaret shared on TikTok.

The puppy’s body was in rough shape. She had mange, overgrown nails, painful red skin, and even sunburns.

But despite everything, she melted in Margaret’s arms like she had been waiting for someone to love her all along.

That night, Margaret brought her home. She trimmed her nails and gave her a gentle medicated bath to soothe her irritated skin.

A New Name And A Fresh Start

The next morning, they went straight to the vet. The little dog was heartworm-negative — a small piece of good news.

She was estimated to be about three years old, although her tiny size and fragile body made her look much younger.

They named her Slurpee — a sweet name for a sweet girl who never gave up.

With medicine and lots of love, Slurpee began to feel better quickly. In just a few days, her eyes were brighter, her skin was improving, and her personality started to shine.

Slurpee is feeling better by the day and we are already seeing improvements on her skin condition,” Margaret wrote online. “Demodectic mange looks scary but is not contagious.

It’s hard to believe that just days earlier, Slurpee was alone in a ditch, her body aching and her heart broken.

Now, she’s in safe hands — eating, healing, and finally getting to enjoy life. Soon, she’ll be fully healthy, and that painful memory will be far behind her.

@maggierlarHelp us name her. This baby has seen the worst of humans, but still belly crawled out of the ditch and into my arms. She goes in first thing tomorrow for medical treatment and vaccines.
