87-Year-Old Man And His Loyal Dog Can’t Imagine Life Without Each Other
John, 87, and his daughter’s dog, Princess Dolly, have the sweetest bond that will brighten anyone’s day.
Since summer 2021, when Katie moved her dad into a flat next door to care for him after his mild Alzheimer’s diagnosis, John and Dolly the Pomeranian have become inseparable.
Here’s their beautiful story.
A Special Bond Like No Other
Katie brought her father closer to give him full-time care after his Alzheimer’s diagnosis, but what happened was something even more special.
Dolly, her Pomeranian, instantly bonded with John, and Katie was amazed at how quickly they became attached to each other.
She decided to let Dolly be her dad’s companion.

“I think she really helps with that. She gives us quite a lot of comfort and keeps his brain active and entertained,” Katie shared with The Dodo.
John dotes on Dolly (or Diva as he likes to call her), taking her everywhere, cuddling her constantly, and even carrying her when she gets tired during walks.

Out of all the dogs John has had in the past, Diva is the only one allowed to sleep in his bed. In return, Diva, with her adorable and fashionable presence, showers him with unconditional love.
When John is around, Diva’s entire focus is on him—she adores him, and her sweet stare is a testament to their deep bond.
Perfectly Paired Companions
Whenever John and Katie go out to dinner, they never leave Diva behind.

In many ways, she acts as his emotional support, helping him cope with his condition. It’s as though Diva instinctively knows that John needs extra care, and she provides it with her constant presence and affection.
John and Diva are truly inseparable, whether they’re at a restaurant, on a walk, or even at John’s hairdresser.

“She goes with him everywhere he goes. My dad takes her to the hairdresser with him,” Katie explained.
Diva is not just a pet; she’s a devoted companion who adores spending every moment with John. She’s both a playful cuddle bug and a caregiver, making sure her grandpa never feels alone.
